[Summit County, OH] – Tuesday, May 20, 2025 – Summit County Domestic Relations Court is proud to announce its designation as a Recovery Friendly Workplace, reaffirming its commitment to fostering a healthy, safe, and stigma-free work environment. By joining Summit County Public Health’s (“SCPH”) Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative, the Court is taking proactive steps to support employees and community members impacted by mental health and/or substance use. This announcement coincides with National Treatment Court Month, a time to recognize the life-changing work of treatment courts across the country—including Summit County’s own Family Recovery Court, which provides specialized support and judicial oversight to families navigating mental health and/or substance use challenges while striving to reunite and heal.
A Commitment to Positive Change
As a Recovery Friendly Workplace, Summit County Domestic Relations Court recognizes the importance of providing resources, education, and a supportive culture that encourages employees to seek help when needed. This initiative aligns with the Court’s ongoing efforts to create an inclusive workplace where individuals feel empowered to prioritize their health and well-being without fear of stigma or judgment.
Supporting Employees and the Community
Recovery Friendly Workplaces promote collaboration between employers, employees, and the broader community to eliminate barriers and enhance recovery support systems. Through this initiative, the Court will:
- Educate staff on substance use disorders and recovery resources.
- Educate staff on mental health disorders and recovery resources.
- Provide access to local recovery and harm reduction services.
- Encourage open dialogue and reduce stigma surrounding substance use and treatment.
- Promote employee health, safety, and productivity through ongoing workplace initiatives.
A Call to Action
Summit County Domestic Relations Court encourages all employees to review the available SCPH resource posters for more information about local substance misuse and recovery support services. Employees are reminded that help is available, and reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Quote from Court Leadership:
“Through our Family Recovery Court, we’ve seen firsthand how lives and families can heal with the right support systems in place. Becoming a Recovery Friendly Workplace is a natural extension of that same philosophy—we’re saying to our employees and our community: your health matters, your recovery matters, and you are not alone.”
— Administrative Judge Katarina Cook, Summit County Domestic Relations Court
The Court has also provided the attached Declaration of Commitment to all current and future employees.
