How does it work?
Participants will use the Goosechase App to complete missions and earn points. Missions vary in type and value. A leaderboard will track progress, and prizes will be awarded through quarterly drawings.
Is there a pen and paper option?
No, at this time, the only way to participate is by downloading the Goosechase App and creating an account.
Is there a cost to participate?
No, participation in the scavenger hunt is completely free made possible through generous funding provided by the America 250 Ohio Foundation.
How do I download the Goosechase App?
The Goosechase App is available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Just search for “Goosechase” and follow the installation instructions.
What is the join code?
The join code for the Law or Legend Scavenger Hunt is LL250.
Do I need to create a Goosechase account to participate?
Yes, participants must create a free Goosechase account to join the scavenger hunt and access missions.
Where will this scavenger hunt take place?
Missions will take place throughout Summit County, Ohio.
When does this experience run through?
The experience runs from Summer 2025 through America’s semiquincentennial – it’s 250th anniversary – in July 2026.
Can I work as part of a team?
Yes, you may work together as a team. However, all participants must register as individuals, unless you’re:
Will each person on a team get a prize?
No. Prizes are awarded to individuals, not teams. The only exception is family groups or adult-minor teams, who may receive one prize collectively.

How many people can be on a team?
There is no official limit, but we recommend 2–5 people for easier coordination.
Can team members complete missions separately?
Yes, team members can complete missions individually or together. All earned points contribute to the team’s total.
What types of missions are there?
Missions will include text responses, photo/video submissions, and geolocator check-ins. Each type may require a different kind of interaction within the Goosechase App.
Do I need to complete the missions in a certain order?
No, you may complete the missions in any order.
Are these the only missions?
No, new missions will be added throughout the year, including event-specific “pop-up” missions. Be sure to check back regularly.
What are pop-up missions?
Pop-up missions occur during specific time frames, events, or at certain locations. They highlight happenings within Summit County and are often seasonal or one-time opportunities.
How will I know when new or pop-up missions are available?
You’ll receive push notifications through the Goosechase App. Updates may also be posted on the event website or social media.
Are all of the missions only about the judiciary?
While many missions will focus on the judiciary, some will highlight Summit County history, tourist attractions, and fun local facts.

How are points awarded?
Points are awarded for successful mission completion. Some missions are automatically scored by the app; others are manually reviewed. Incorrect submissions may result in point deductions.
What if I get a question wrong?
Team members will regularly review submissions. If a submission is deemed incorrect, points may be deducted from your score.
Can I lose points for incorrect answers?
Yes. While the app may award points initially, incorrect submissions may result in point deductions after review.
Can I see how many points I have?
Yes, your points and progress can be tracked in the Goosechase app under your team or individual dashboard.
Do I have to complete all the missions to get a prize?
No, you only need to earn at least 100 points to be eligible for prize drawings.
Will I need to earn 100 points each quarter to be eligible for prizes?
No. Once you earn 100 points, you’re eligible for all future quarterly prize drawings. However, you must be active in the goosechaise app for that quarter.
Are there prizes?
Yes! Prize drawings will be held quarterly. All participants who earn at least 100 points will be entered into a random drawing.
What kind of prizes can I win?
Prizes may include gift cards, local experiences, or branded merchandise. Details will be shared before each drawing. Note: Prizes are awarded to individuals, not teams—except for families or adult-minor teams, who may be eligible for one shared prize.
How will winners be notified?
Winners will be contacted via the email or username associated with their Goosechase account.
What if I have technical difficulties with the app?
Try restarting the app or your device. For ongoing issues, contact Goosechase support or clindeman@drcourt.org.
By participating in the Law or Legend Judicial Scavenger Hunt (“the Hunt”), you agree to the following:
The Goosechase App is required to participate. No paper or alternative options are available.
All content submitted must be your own original work or used with permission.
Participants must engage respectfully and responsibly—no trespassing, harassment, or disruptive behavior during mission activities.
Points, prizes, and game participation may be revoked if cheating, misrepresentation, or inappropriate conduct is detected.
All participation is voluntary and at your own risk. The Hunt organizers (including court staff, affiliates, and sponsors) are not liable for any injury, damage, or loss that may occur during participation.
Participants are responsible for their own safety and must obey all local laws and public guidelines.
Minors under 18 must participate under adult supervision or as part of a family unit. Adults are responsible for the actions and supervision of minors in their care.
By participating, you release the Hunt organizers from any claims arising out of or related to participation.
