Judge Judith (Judy) A. Nicely was elected as Judge of the Summit County Common Pleas Court, Domestic Relations Division, to serve a six year term which began in January 1991. She is now serving her second six year term.

After graduating from Ohio State University School of  Nursing in 1960, she cared for five children until all were in school.  She then enrolled in the University of Akron Law School where she graduated in 1977. Prior to becoming a judge, she was in private practice for twelve years. 

Judge Nicely is a past chair of the Ohio Association of Domestic Relations Judges Association.  She is a member of the Akron, Ohio, and American Bar Associations, and the Association of Family & Conciliation Courts.  She serves on several Akron Bar Association committees.  She is presently a board member of the Akron Art Museum, and Summit County Domestic Violence Task Force.
