Mr. Teleis assumed this position in Septemberr, 2000 and is responsible for management of the non-judicial aspects of the court, including management of the court’s approximately $2.9 Million budget, case management, human resources and court technology. In addition to his administrative duties, Mr. Teleis also serves as a part-time magistrate in the court when needed.
Mr. Teleis is an attorney and a 1993 graduate of the University of Akron School of Law. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Gannon University in Erie, PA. Prior to taking over as Court Administrator, Teleis worked in the claims department for a major national insurance company and had his own computer consulting business. He also practiced law in the Akron area and has argued before the Ohio Supreme Court..
In addition to a law degree, Mr. Teleis has been awarded the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation from the American Institute for CPCU, and the Associate in Claims (AIC) designation from the Insurance Institute of America. In 2004, Mr. Teleis completed the Court Management Program jointly sponsored by the National Center for State Courts and the Supreme Court of Ohio Judicial College. In 2009, Mr. Teleis was awarded the designation of Certified Court Executive (CCE) and Fellow of the Institute for Court Management from the National Center for State Courts. Mr. Teleis is a Past-President for the Ohio Association for Court Management – www.ohiocourtadministration.org and also serves on the Commission on Technology and the Courts for the Supreme Court of Ohio.
When not working at the Court, Mr. Teleis enjoys backpacking, kayaking and scuba diving. He is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and Emergency First Response first aid and CPR instructor, and also teaches scuba classes for a local dive center in Barberton, Ohio.
